My View From the Broadcast Booth: Margaretta at SMCC

We've had a special knack this basketball season of picking close games to broadcast on our Friday Night Replay. Friday's Sandusky Bay Conference match-up between St. Mary Central Catholic and Margaretta was our third replay game this basketball season to go down to the final seconds.

We've had a special knack this basketball season of picking close games to broadcast on our Friday Night Replay.   Friday's Sandusky Bay Conference match-up between St. Mary Central Catholic and Margaretta was our third replay game this basketball season to go down to the final seconds.   RANDOM THOUGHTS: The race for second place in the SBC might be one of the most compelling in the area this season. Port Clinton, Margaretta, Huron, Clyde and St. Mary Central Catholic all have a chance to finish as the runner-up in the SBC.    I'm making the assumption that Perkins will win the SBC. The Pirates (7-0) are undefeated at the halfway point of the conference season and seem to be firing on all cylinders right now. I don't think, however, that Perkins will finish the SBC season undefeated. SMCC will be the next opponent for Perkins on Friday night at "The Den."   The Panthers scored 36 percent of their points (18 of 50) in the contest at the free throw line.   The officials called the game extremely close and the Polar Bears lost Tyler Hilton in the third quarter when he picked up his fifth foul. Hilton was the leading scorer in the first half for Margaretta with eight points.   Alex Opfer of SMCC came in to the night as the leading scorer in the SBC at 17.8 points per game and finished the game with 18 points.   I've seen some pretty interesting things from the student sections this season, but the parting of the Red Sea was brilliant by Margaretta. Ashley Febbo caught the skit on our broadcast and you can watch it on the Friday Night Replay.   WHAT'S NEXT ON FANDY.COM: The upcoming games we plan to broadcast   Jan. 20: Western Reserve Boys at Norwalk St. Paul (Live)   Jan. 27: Perkins Girls at Clyde (Replay at 10 p.m.)   Feb. 4:  Sandusky Boys at Norwalk (Live)   Feb 7: Sandusky Boys at Huron (Replay at 10 p.m.)
