Congrats to all of the Ohio colleges that made the NCAA tournament.
That includes Cleveland State, Akron, Ohio State, Dayton and Xavier.
Special kudos to Gary Waters with the Vikings. It's been a challenge getting the Vikings back on track, but he appears to the be man for the job. I still remember the run in 1986.
The Buckeyes were helped by a strong Big Ten tournament run. I think they were in after beating Northwestern in the regular-season finale, but it didn't hurt making it all the way to the conference title game.
The eighth seed is a good place for OSU. The game between 8 and 9 is always tricky. I know some people are already picking Siena for the upset. With the Buckeyes, you never know what to expect. They've played better as of late, but this is still a young team that doesn't have a lot of tournament experience. Even super soph Evan Turner has only played in the NIT last season.
The team's only player from the 2007 National Championship runner-up team — David Lighty — has been sidelined most of the season.
If OSU can get consistency from point guards P.J. Hill and Jeremie Simmons, if B.J. Mullens and Dallas Lauderdale can make their presence known inside and if Jon Diebler can hit jumpers, the Buckeyes have a chance to move on. If not, well, you know.
I like the Final Four to be Pittsburgh, North Carolina, Louisville and Memphis. I like the Tar Heels if Ty Lawson is healthy.
