I know what you're thinking — fall sports is still a ways off.
But in reality, teams will start officially preparing for the fall season in about five weeks.
It should be an exciting time in our area with the bevy of tennis, golf, boys and girls soccer and volleyball matches, as well as cross country meets and football games.
The first day of coaching for football is Aug. 3. The regular season runs from Aug. 24 to Oct. 31 with the playoffs to follow. The state championship games are scheduled for Dec. 4 and 5.
There are a lot of intriguing matchups this season, starting with that first week. Chris MacFarland will lead the Norwalk Truckers on to the field for the first time Aug. 28 at Edison.
New London and first-year coach Kyle Marett hosts Colonel Crawford.
That same date Bellevue is at Perkins. The Redmen also go to Clyde in the third week.
Mapleton is scheduled to Sandusky St. Mary Central in the final non-league game for both schools.
And Perkins is at Sandusky in what should be an exciting matchup for the northern part of the area.
An interesting season awaits us all and it will be here before you know it.
