SANDUSKY: Is this the year Sandusky posts a winning record?
It's been a poplar question the past decade. Sandusky last had a winning record in 1999 at 6-4.
The short answer: Yes, if the team plays to it's potential, keeps the mistakes to a minimum, and gets off to a good start out of the gate — that part goes for the season opener against Southview and the other nine games.
"We can't wait until the second second quarter to get moving," coach Mike Franklin said.
The Streaks were hit for a 14-12 loss against the Saints, who have one win in the last three years. If Sandusky opens with a loss, forget a winning season (and Mansfield Senior and Toledo Scott, both easy wins a year ago, are off the schedule in favor of Perkins and St. John's Jesuit).
If Sandusky can get a fast start out of the gate, sustain that energy throughout the game, the team won't second guess itself, Franklin said.
That type of play was evident in the first half and most of the third quarter in a 260-20 loss to Ross in the final game. But the performance gave fans hope for the 2009.
The Streaks have talked about posting a winning record... Now it's time to put it into action.

DANBURY: Can the Lakers develop consistency under new coach?
In a nutshell: not this year.
There are too many questions heading in to the season that don't revolve around new head coach Tim Heffernan. Then add a new style on top of it and you've got a heck of a situation.
This year is going to be a feeling-out process for the Lakers. Hopefully, over time, they can build something positive. For the recent future, meaning 2009, things might be rough.
