So, you want to bring a rival to the NOL

Monday's Sandusky school board meeting saw the member vote to approve the move to the Northern Ohio League.
Which was really a formality at this point. The move makes great sense, and the board members know it:

Tom Patterson, Board President: "I think this league is going to really help us get more of a fan base to an out-of-town game and also out-of-towners coming here. It's the oldest Ohio league in existence right now."

Not only that,T, it'll help you fill Strobel Field a little more for home games when the away team doesn't have to traverse
See also, Perkins Vs. Sandusky, when you filled the place to the brim.
No doubt schools like Columbian and Bellevue will travel well.

The most intriguing piece of discussion was between King Baer and superintendent Bill Pahl.

King: "There was one opening left. Have they filled that? "
Bill: "Not that I'm aware of. As a matter of fact, they're meeting tomorrow. The principals decide. We're campaigning hard for Fremont to join."

Now my ears are really perked. And not because it makes the Blue Streaks-Little Giants game that much easier on the schedule.
The NOL was against Fremont Ross because it worried the school — which is larger than any of the others — might dominate athletics.
That's debatable, depending on the sport — speaking of which, the NOL might have enough members for sports like soccer should Ross get the nod.

The other thing to consider... The NOL early this year dispatched letters — 10 of them a source told me — to a handful of schools. Fremont Ross, which is in desperate need of a league to call home since the GBC is crumbling and applied to the Toledo City League, was not on that guest list.

Should Ros get a look?
Yeah.

Should it get an invite?
Unless the NOL can find anyone better — and my guess right now is it can't — then, yeah.

Denting the twine

Since Saturday, three player have tallied at least hat tricks in soccer:
Jennifer Kline had four Saturday, and on Monday two more players – Perkins Kaylie Wienhardt and Margaretta's Sarah Weaver — joined her.
Wienhardt had four goals and Weaver scored all three for the Polar Bears.

Sadly rumors are increasing that Willard will bolt as well to the NCC.  Hopefully that's not the case, but if so there may not be an NOL in 3-5 years.
