I sit here at my desk at 11:58 a.m., (Wednesday, Feb. 10) waiting to hear if more games will be postponed. It certainly doesn't looking promising and Thursday's games may be in jeopardy, depending on the weather and how passable roads are. I already hear that the Mapleton at Plymouth girls' basketball game won't be played and I'm waiting word on Western Reserve at South boys'. That game has been postponed and is being rescheduled for Monday.
It's really getting to be crunch time for schools as athletic directors scramble to find agreeable dates for both schools, plus referees and workers.
The St. Paul girls' team will play four games next weeek. The girls' tournament begins Feb. 23.
The boys' draw is Sunday and seeding could be on the line if some of these aren't played or delayed. Some schools will not have played for two weeks or near two weeks by the time Friday comes along.
But there is really nothing we can do about Mother Nature. It's been good to us so far. Just think that spring is around the corner and then we have to deal with rain for baseball and softball.
